Never mind, I just went and brought them in, just to be on the safe side...
Can someone tell me what is doing this to my tomato plants leaves??

And what I can do about it?

FT, looks like what happened to mine, have the blooms and fruit dropped off yet. it's some type of virus (moisaic?) i had to rip mine up, get rid of the potting soil, wash my container with strong bleach water. getting ready to try again. i saw this in the NP a couple/three weeks ago. the article said nothing could be done, and to look for the most virus resistant hybrid to replant with. and remember if you use any native soil, bake it in the oven for 45 minutes at 250+ degrees to kill the nematodes, which are very common here. dig down just a bit and take a look at the roots, if they have knots and nodules on them, it's nematodes. but it still looks like that virus that took out mine. good luck! also, check this link... http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/tomatoproblemsolver/leaves/8c.html

Thanks Coonie....that sucks!!! I haven't lost any fruit, cause I don't have any yet...I think I started late....one of my plants does have a few blooms, I guess I will just wait it out a few more days....I sure hope I don't have to start over.
I didn't use any native soil, only soil I bought from Home depot.

hvac, mine came from a well known seed resopority heretage seeds are not kown for resistance. they're the real thing. no plant is inpervioud to some type of disease. i just happen to like the taste of GRANNY (nanaw) maters. hybreds here can be like cardboard.

| I've never seen that happen before. Hope it does ok for you. I think it's normal for the bottom leaves to turn yellow, at least that is what always happens to mine. My plant is somewhat a disappointment. It got quite a few tomatoes, but they don't really taste that great and the skin is pretty thick. bummer. Not at all like the ones I had up north. |

Bummer KD....My plants are doing ok I think....it was just the bottom leaves.
I was afraid that I might not be able to grow some of the really tasty maters....I'm still at the flowering stage, so time will tell. That's too bad you were disappointed in yours.

I'm a proud parent! These are my very first ever, home grown tomatoes!

KD is right, the skin is kinda thick, I was somewhat disappointed.

I'll bet they still beat grocery store maters.

Dancin, Wow, those tomatoes look great! Two of my plants got the same virus that you and Coon got on the lower leaves. I took off those branches and the plants seem to be doing well. How far did the virus go on your plants? My patio and grape tomatoes are just starting to turn red. The romas and big boys have a way to go. I've been really pleased with planting the plants in the PVC tubes. It seems to help with keeping the plants well watered. |

HVAC...same here....just the lower leaves.....the next ones I pick I am going to wait longer and see if the skin softens up....they do look pretty, and the flavor was pretty good (if I do say so myself ) but they were tough.
My patio tomatoes haven't turned yet...and are still a bit small, but I am hoping they will be more tender!
