A couple of months ago, I bought 8 plants from Lowes on one of their sale racks. One of the plants I bought was a night blooming jasmine. It was rather small, and had buds on it, but the buds never bloomed. The other day I was outside chasing after the dog, and I noticed closed flowers on the jasmine. That was about a week ago, and still they didn't bloom.
Last night I was outside watering my plants on the lani, when I smelled the jasmine. I only have one night bloomer, but the smell filled the entire lani. That plant is the best $2.00 I ever spent.
Our neighbors in San Diego had the fence covered in the jasmine, such a great smell at night.

They really do smell wonderful. I don't have any night jasmine. but I do know what they smell like, my neighbor has some.
I have some confederate and star jasmine, they also smell great. But I don't think they are quite as pungent as the night blooming.

We have Lakeview jasmine across the back and one side of the pool deck enclosure, they smell great and bloom often.

I want to add some night blooming jasmine to my yard. Nothing better in the evening.
I had one several years ago and it took me weeks to realize that the reason I wasn't seeing the blooms open was because they only opened at night lol.

| I like to keep one night blooming jasmine on each side of my house and a virginia jasmine growing somewhere as well. The virgina jasmines bloom more in the summer I think. |

Coon...the town I grew up in, in Illinois is supposed to be the Lilac capitol...LOL..I don't know if it really is, but just about everyone who lived there had lilac bushes or trees in their yard. In May the entire town looked and smelled wonderful.
We had the Lilac parade which was about the same size of the Edison Parade...the water towers were lavender, etc....

I miss the lilacs too.....but they do need a dormant season.

I have a night blooming jasmine tree that I planted in my courtyard and a climbing rose bush also. I will have to find some pix of my garden.

I have to find the close-ups. I took this to show all the water from those heavy rains we had in July of last year. Unfortunately with the heat here and the lack of a dormant season, the garden doesn't stay this way very long and it was hard, hard work.

I checked with the Lilac society on that several months ago because I love lilacs and I miss them so much. There are no varieties that will grow south of Tampa and Tampa is iffy too.
