Thanks

How long does it take for nicotine to get out of your system? Isn't it a week or something. I'm on day 4 right now. All is well.

Keep your resolve up for the 2nd and 3rd week.

Good luck.

Thanks. I'm not all that worried about it anyhow. I've never been a heavy smoker. My best estimate was about 3-5 cigarettes a day. With some "event" smoking being much heavier. But I figure I'm gonna save about $400 or so a year not buying cigarettes.

Good for you. I thought the first several days were the hardest. Everyone is different. I was a heavy smoker and I did it. Actually I quit every bad habit I had over time. Bitting nails, smoking, drinking, etc.....

I'm not gonna quit drinking. I don't see it as a bad habit for me though. When I was 18-22. Probably a very bad habit then. But now? Not so much. I may have a glass or two of wine in the evenings but that about it. A scotch on the rocks here or there. A beer or 12....who's counting?

I have cut fast food almost 100% out of my diet. That's a good thing. It makes me sick if I eat it anymore anyhow.

Cutting out fast food is a good idea. I never eat it alot so it is not a problem for me. I eat it about once a month. BUT I love my sweets. But it is my only vice.

I never did eat much fast food to begin with. Maybe once every month or two at the most. Then I listenned to Morgan Spurlock's "Don't Eat This Book" on CD and decided it would be a good idea to try to eat as little fast food as possible. Especially when he reads the ingrdients to stuff and tells you in detail about some of the chemicals involved. It's kinda scarey.

I always found the first couple days easier then when all the nicotine started leaving my body I got severe cravings. I'm glad you quit - stick with it!

So far so good. I'm fine with it. I realized I just really like tobacco. BUT...I need to get in shape. Kinda hard to get in shape and smoke. Not impossible but it doesn't help.

Once i'm back into my place I think I might buy a hookah. And some nice tastey tobacco.

The first three days and the entire 3rd week have always been the hardest for me.

After that, it only bothered me when I was having a cocktail. Somehow a smoke and a cocktail seem to go together.

Would you believe with everything happening the last few days I actually bought a pack of cigarettes yesterday afternoon! My brand too. But I realized that nothing was to be gained by me smoking again. My B.P. is already above normal, my glucose levels are slightly elevated and it's such a b i t c h to quit that I decided against it.

CT do you like licorice or bubble gum? It helped me with my oral fixation to have something in my mouth. (Rummy don't even go there, you either SoWhat!)

Not really an orally fixated individual. I'm more of a hands fixated type.

I don't know what that's called.

It really hasmn't been that hard to quit. Kinda dissappointing really.

DROP THE HAND AND BACK AWAY!

Get the hookah. I have some "tobacco" for ya. It tastes like oranges and makes you miss all the answers on Jeopardy.

"tobacco" that smells like oranges? How'd they get the oranges in the "tobacco"?

I miss most of the questions to jeopardy anyhow. My favorite is when it's high school and middle schooler week.

Congrats Cthomp!! Stick with it. I quit almost 2 yrs ago....still miss it sometimes at cocktail hour.

I also quit fast food a few years ago too. Even on my 2 1/2 wk road trip, we didn't eat junk food once.

Yeah road trips I think it's nearly impossible to not eat junk food unless you pack a ton of stuff for food and keep stopping into grocery stores to pick up even more stuff. Which is what my parents used to do when I was a kid. My wife and I managed that on recent trip to Georgia.

Just like Cthomp said....we had a big vehicle and we just took a cooler with us for snacks and such. We would restock at the grocery store. Most of the hotels we stayed in offered free breakfast, then we would either eat lunch from the cooler or stop at a restaurant. Dinner was usually some fun place. I actually lost weight on this trip! I'm ready for another one!
