In the words of my husband, "this place is better than G's mom!!!" G is one of his best friends who used to own Venezia's in Downtown Cape Coral.
I highly recommend this place. Whether you are going for a romantic dinner, as we were, or if you want to just hang out at the very upscale bar and have something off their appetizer menu, you can't go wrong.
We arrived, and when French Devil announced our name, we were greeted with a heartfelt "Happy Anniversary!" We a very nice corner table that was like a booth, but more like sitting on REALLY awesome couch cusions. Yes, I did bounce up and down a few times on them!
We started off with cocktails, and quite the chocolate martini. One of the best I've ever had. And they had Stoli, so French Devil was a happy camper.
We ordered for our appetizer the beer battered shrimp. It came with sliced ginger, and some sort of a chili tangy dipping sauce. It was tasty, but a wee bit HOT for my taste buds. The husband loved it.
Our salads were next. We ordered the mixed greens. And mixed they were! Yummy. NOT one piece of iceburg on the plate!! It was almost like a greek salad, but not quite. The dressing was light and just RIGHT for the salad greens.
For our entrees French Devil ordered the duckling, and I had the pork marsala served over wild grain rice. I also got a special fried onion ring. Our dishes were impeccably presented, and HOT. I LOVE when my food comes HOT, and not HOT from being sat out under a heat lamp, either.
I couldn't eat all my pork, they served 5 slices of pork loin, and I could only eat 2 of them. Hubby loved his duck. He had me taste a piece.....it was very flavorful....unfortunately, he wasted the piece on me as I do not like duck. Too gamey for me.
We didn't have dessert. I'm reminded I have a 2 piece suit I need stuff myself into this weekend, but my husband did have an espresso. Served with lemon zest, just like HE prefers.
Our server was attentive, but NOT overbearing. I think he was giving us some space because we kept kissing! No not land lip locking, little kisses, and especially after I got my anniversary gift (Read the July 5th thread for that one!)
It was a wonderful restaurant. Truly. Thanks for the referral So What....thumbs up for you!
OH, and they have totally cool looking little room off the main dining room. It is just too cute to describe here..YOU go there and check it yourself.
