Has anyone tried Bikram Yoga? I'm going for my first class tonight.

I think I've tried the "Hatha" yoga, it was very much into breathing, relaxing and stretching. I really miss it - good stress reducer too! Good Luck and hope you enjoy.

Things not to do when you are a smoker...Bikram Yoga.

Wow, it was intense for 90 minutes in a heated room. I've done basic yoga before but I thought I was going to die after the first three poses in this class. The teacher wouldn't let me quit and I had to give into being captive in the sweltering room for another 89 minutes.
I made it. My body feels incredible, relaxed and I can breath.

I've done yoga. I dug it. For being the size I am i'm surprisingly flexible.

Yoga felt great. For the first couple of sessions I was sore but I got used to it and it just felt better and better.

I don't remember why I stopped. I think working on ma crack house interferred.

Well after two nights of this intense yoga in a 105-degree room, the pain in my neck is gone and a majority of the pain down my right arm is gone. My posture is straighter and I feel like I can breath again. Probably due to all the stretching of the spine.

Hubby (reluctantly) and his daughter went with me last night 'on a challenge after they mocked me'. They both struggled through it, complained how insane the workout was and even said it would be a perfect gift certificate for someone you don't like. An hour after the class was over, they were sold! We're going again tonight.

Hiya HVAC - I've been doing Bikram regularly for 5 years - see your Private Message. CaptJ told me you were inquiring about it....glad you like it! It rocks....

That sounds great, I'm glad you like the classes. Radio and I were talking about taking a yoga class when the kids start school. I do pilates but I think Yoga would be much better. I wonder if Ada's will offer yoga classes.

Yoga, all disciplines of it, are 2000 + years old. This ain't no recent hippie crap. And Lisa (Yogini,) at 52 years, can touch her big toe to her forehead while standing. No sht. It makes for some interesting evenings.

Yogini, thanks for your response and PM.

Dancin and Mrs. R., the only place I found around here is in Ft. Myers on 41 in Dragon Plaza behind Kinkos, a few blocks north of College Pkwy. Just finished the third night for me, second for hubby and daughter. We are not workout or exercise people at all but this is incredible! The body, mind and soul all come together. In just three sessions, I haven't felt this good in at least a year! It's a bare bones place. They have an introductory price of $20.00 for three consecutive lessons. Let me know when you're ready to try it.

I have an idea: Let's have the LCC Gal's Yoga Class weekly at my house. I can get some space heaters and foam mats. Candles, incense, a hidden cam and Enya music. I hear that panties and bras just restrict movement, so they're optional. PM me.

Yea, yea, you guys. That's probably why Hubby is encouraging me to do it.

One of the things that surprised me was the amount of men in this class. Hubby pointed out that there were more men then women in these classes. Some of them were big boys and yes, they were flexible.

Yoga encompasses so much more beyond the physical. It teaches meditation, breathing, introspection and the more esoteric components of life. And it's a great place to meet chicks.

So Captj, when I go tomorrow, I'm going to see your baby blues starring at the ceiling in Savasana?

So, is this Bikram Yoga stuff all those demoralizing moves like "Downward Dog"?

Awesome job Dancin!! Congratulations on making it through your first class!

BTW, I found Emergen-C packs at BJ Wholesale club. They're the packs they sell at the yoga counter to add to your water to help with the minerals lost during the sweating.

HVAC I will have to get with you again and get some water and emergen-C-maybe we could split the cost?

I'm not sure yet on the emergen-c though....I still gotta check it out....minerals are good, but I don't want to over do the vitamins combining with what I already take.

I met the director last night, yes he was in the speedo

Dancin, how'd it go today?

Let me know about the water and Emergen-C. The two boxes of Emergen-C, 36 packets each box was 14.99 at BJ's

Well, I lived to post another day. I made it through another class. Don't know how, but I did. My balance seemed worse today than yesterday. Probably cause my muscles were fatigued.

I tried the emergen-C today....bluck....!!! But, I will drink it anyway. I'll take all the help I can get!

I'd be happy to go in on it all with you HVAC (I don't belong to BJ's, maybe they have it at Costco too?)

Tomorrow is gonna be deadly....my muscles are tired. I was shaking a lot today. LOL
