All 22 candidates who will be in the Sept. 11 city council primary election are being invited to participate in the CC Civic Association candidates forum on Tuesday August 28 from 7-9 PM. Civic meetings are held at the Cape Coral Yacht Club and are open to the public free of charge. Refreshments, supplied by the candidates, will be served following the meeting.
Candidates are invited to come early and bring your campaign literature and supporters. Civic will provide tables for your literature.
For additional information please call Leelo at 540-3440 or Ralph at 574-6112.
Civic will also host a "Survivors Night" in October for the top two winners in each council race. That meeting will be held on Tuesday Oct 23 beginning at 7 PM sharp.

I understand this is the best part!
Judge the candidates on their issues and their cooking. I'm looking forward to it.

Hi O-B, We will have a 1 minute opening and a 2 minute closing. That will consume some 66+ minutes.
We expect to ask some 25 or so questions that will be framed in such a manner that will only require a yes/no response.
Any candidate who wants to expand on the answer to any question can do so in their closing.
Ideally it would be nice to split the candidates and have two forums...however now we are talking double our cost for the hall rental. It cost Civic $150 for our last forum. |

Tanx Ralph. :) I wish you luck with this attempt. :) I have it on my calendar, and look forward to the desserts. :)

I will say that the desserts will probably taste better than vast majority of the "other stuff" that will be shoveled around at this, or any other debate.

Ralph, I was utterly frustrated at the last debate. The question askers made long winded STATEMENTS, and didn't ask questions. As you know, I wanted to ask a question of the candidates, and didn't get a chance. But that's okay. I know that Eric supports the charter schools. :)
And yeah....I'll be wearing my boots that night to help me wade thru the muck, Radio.

I didn't know it cost you to host these. I will make a contribution the next time I attend. I know, I know. You would be happy with my membership fee, right?

Yep; the Yacht Club is an Enterprise within Parks and Rec, and you are charged by the number of people. The cost is incremented 0-100, 101-150, etc. Anyone using the the facility pays. In addition to our meeting cost we also sign a yearly contract (about $300/year)that reserves the dates in advance and includes insurance.
Yes, I would like you to join, membership is only $15./family. We need to start bringing in more younger people if Civic is to survive for another 45 years. |
