I can play Chess; but it usually ends in a stale mate or the game lasts too long and I quit.
Now, checkers is a hard one to win, too.
So, is every one heading to the polls?????
We need emoticons:

Please don't cut the cheese at the polls (this reminds me of Lum)

I feel so bad for a young friend of mine. The girl that has been driving me to work has a Mom who has been a hopeless alcoholic and crack user for years. She had a major fight with her Mom a few days ago over her Mom constantly using her.
She got a call this morning that she hadn't shown up for work and was not answering the phone. My friend went over and found her Mom's body. She had finally accomplished something she has been trying to do for years: commit suicide.
What makes it worse is that as well as I know this young woman, she will blame herself.

Her Mom has been laying guilt trips for so long, all I see is a long road of therapy for this young woman.
There is nothing you can do that is more selfish then suicide.

So do I. I wish I could take her pain away from her. One of the last things her mother said was that she hated her. How could a parent say such a thing?

Good Morning Multi-colored Rainbo
Sorry about your friend
It is the disease (Drink and drugs) that causes the hate. And it's the family that suffers for the illness and abuse.
So many sad stories out there.
X-tra hugs and prayers for you and your friend

Thank you fuz. I am a recovering addict and very glad that I never got to the point where I would have said such a thing to my child. I don't know how I would have lived with myself, and perhaps, that is what happened to her mother.... she could not live with what she said.

It seems some families find it easier to hurt and hate and not love. Her mom was dead inside already and looking for a way out.
Tragedy can produce a very strong soul, hopefully your friend continues to love and be loved by others; and become a strong healthy person.
Now, If anyone could invent a GPS system for my laundry I would be happy. Clothes are everywhere but the closet/dressing. I spend about 30 minutes in the morning to find socks ect. for me and the fuzzes.

She is 24 I think. Same age as my youngest. I have been looking around for a support group for her. Found one that meets at Hope Hospice. I intend to pass the info on to her once she calms down. Last person who spoke to her said she is still freaked so it might be a while.

Someone sent this to me and I felt I had to share this with all of you. The first rule at the bottom is probably the most important!!!!
Subject: 5 Rules
Positive Mental Attitude!!
We can all learn a lesson from this great old girl!
The 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud lady, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with her hair fashionably coifed and makeup perfectly applied, even though she is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. Her husband of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary.
After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, she smiled sweetly when told her room was ready. As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of her tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on her window.
"I love it," she stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.
"Mrs. Jones, you haven't seen the room just wait." "That doesn't have anything to do with it," she replied. "Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged... it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it "It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty. I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away just for this time in my life.
Old age is like a bank account, you withdraw from what you've put in. So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories.
Thank you for your part in filling my Memory bank. I am still depositing. Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred. 2. Free your mind from worries. 3. Live simply. 4. Give more. 5. Expect less.
