What a prehistoric looking shark!

I'm glad they hang in the deep water! Nasty teeth!

way too rough sunday, Jr will try today.
FT, we use the 'new penny', pearl, and our seceret wepond, camo. camo works well if the water is stirred up. new penny is great for the super clear water, pearl works good at dawn and dusk!
i'd go out today, but i really don't enjoy fishing in the cold!

JR only picked up a couple of short reds, water was murky and cold. he did spot some Snook around big pine key, but no bites. water is too cold i guess.

doesn't Snook season reopen tomorrow 2/1/07? or am i off?

Moved down here in '99 with fishing as our favorite hobby. However, since we don't have a boat, we now have NO WHERE decent to fish!!! Used to enjoy fishing under the bridges on Sanibel, but of course that is gone... Hard to believe there is "water, water everywhere" and no place to fish!! Don't like to fish elbow to elbow with the folks on the Sanibel fishing pier... Have tried under the bridge at Cape Coral, but that's not very exciting...We catch and release, and mostly just enjoy trying to catch a shark or a nice big fighter jack..seems like lately all we catch are sting rays! YUK... Did catch a Florida sawfish which was fun, even took a party boat charter and
only caught tiny little snapper...The only saving thing about that day was we had a trio of dolphin that hung out with us all day, and they were entertaining... More like a Disney trip than a fishing trip, but that was ok.. Any suggestions where we might go to fish without a boat??

Da....I'm not really sure....but you might try Lovers Key....

Ding darling might be good too....near the power lines.

Other than that....Ummm....maybe Naples Pier.....

Oh yeah, bunchee (sp?) beach is supposed to be excellent according to my hubby....he says you have to wade out about 100 yards to the channel.

Good luck, and tight lines!

Thanks for the suggestions ... I'm very skeptical about wading out in the water... Kind of a chicken about that...We used to go in the water
when we first moved here, then caught too many sharks, and now I just can't seem to go in deeper than my ankles!!! And even that shallow have had little ones come skirting around my feet, which really makes me nervous! Would rather have my feet planted firmly on Terra Cotta
while fishing....We've fished Lovers Key YEARS ago, while here on
vacation, might try that again, and ridiculous as it sounds, we have never ever been to Ding Darling, so might try that.. Naples pier is a hassle because of the "beggar pelicans"...And the bridge at Matlacha
is supposed to be good, but not much parking there.. Maybe we're just
too picky! I am just so sad the causeway fishing under the bridge is gone, as we have caught so many fish there and found it to be very enjoyable.. I hear they are thinking of preserving the last bridge to the Island of Sanibel as a fishing bridge, and I sure hope they do that.. That would be wonderful.. they did that with the old bridge to Padre Island in Texas, and it is a great fishing spot. There is a concrete pier in Port Charlotte too onto the Peace River, but they have it closed now also doing some kind of construction there..Probably CONDOS, and they won't let the public fish there anymore would be my guess!!

I've seen people fishing the weirs. What might we expect to catch there? and which side of it do you fish? We usually fish with
live shrimp, would that be suitable there? When I have seen people fishing there it looks like they are fishing for bass, not bottom
fishing. Used to also go to Wiggins state park and fish by the boat ramp, but then they closed that dock also!! I like to fish the pass but hubby doesn't like it there for some reason.. I've caught some nice snapper in there. As I said before, we catch and release, so doesn't matter about the "food value" .. we throw them ALL back in. Partially because I'm a bit of a conservationist, and mostly because we don't like fish!!

i fish the salt side, closest to the bridge. i've caught nice snook, sheepshead, jacks, snapper, black drum. etc. shrimp are a good bait. throw it right up to the weir, the weirs are undercut by the current, and there are big holes under them that hold a lot of fish. fishing is better when water is flowing over the weirs. the people that seem to be bass fishing are actually fishing for snook. snook will hit a lot of top water lures, sometimes...rapala's, rebels (jointed) and mirrolures usually work good. fish them just like your going for bass. when fishing with shrimp i usually use a cork (clear) about 18" above the bait, and work it under the bridge structure. during pre-spawn mullet can be caught on small hooks baited with biscuit dough. good luck!

They are really scarce!

not anymore! threads under the 'spans' greenbacks near picknic, snook 'off the wall' in shell creek, inside punta blanca bay, around big pine key.....jr s out right now!, ripping the snook up! some short, some keepers, some too big!

if you're really into it, on the vhf channels, you'll hear conversation between the 'crooked hooker/mobile' and the 'cosmic cowboy/base'...you gotta know our codes to understand, but, none the less.

Are you for real??? LOL...you drive a jag??

That is my dream car...My dad had two once upon a time! LOL...he had the little 2 seater, convertible sports model XK something or other....and my grandfather had the sedan....then GF died and dad had two Jags....I was just a peon then....but I fell in love with then.

I learned to drive on a VW stick (in drivers ed) then I got my license and the first car I drove was the Jag....I've never driven a nicer car to this day....and I LOVE my little toodler.

I want the LAST car I ever drive to be a jag....don't want one before then!

FT,
yes ma'am a jag xk8 drop top, silver with bone interior. black top. sis lives in the UK, so various(grey market) performance parts have been installed. i love the look on the muscle men's faces, when my little cat eats their lunch. it'll do 155+ mph on the highway, and you'll think you're doing 55. switch off the traction control, switch on the performance mode and let her rip! the stated horse power (stock) is 290, with the f-1 parts from the UK installed, it dyno's close to 450hp or more, i won't tell hehe. bring on the mustang gt's, z-28, etc. i don't fool around with the high end porches, mazzies or others of that ilk, but it'll embarass most american stuff (except for the viper). a new class 'A' supercharger has been (ordered from jag coventry, UK ), with wet nitrous injection should take care of that.
hope my last car is a aston martin dv8. da jag lives in the garage, i putt around in a camaro, and a corolla during season.
to avoid nasty fender benders. my fav is a 68 XKE drop top , yellow, with black rascing stripes, it could be my daily driver , with the aston in the garage!
