ok, everything is messed up. did a fun run inside and out, just looking.
some of the outside crab bouys are holding tripletail! far and in between, but i saw a few.
shark (black tip & bull) seem to be everywhere, in particular in the cuts in front of the mangroves. we've spooled out recently, which makes me think jewfish or black grouper. all kinds of fish aren't where they should be.

I know..it is really weird....we caught a small bonefish on the reefs.....and another fish, that I had never heard of, but was told was a back water fish..in fact our captain said he had NEVER caught one before on the reefs.

Well, on the up side, it never gets boring.

Hey Dancin,

If you run into any mullet out there I would gladly take them off your hands, us natives love to eat them smoked and fried. I've been craving some good mullet lately....yummy.

OH...that you would keep me from evil...

Hey Stranger.... you have to cast a net for those....once in a rare while we get the finger mullet, great bait....but I've never caught a full size one. They don't get on the hook.

well, i've discoverd what's spoolin us out, hugh jewfish. i had a thread on line, that was taken by a nice mangrove, who was in turn sluppped by an at least a 100lb jewfish, brought him by for a look, and cut him off at the leader. i was in skinny, maybe 6" at the most. Fish are at the wrong places, i agree with dancin

last day of snook season today. me and jr went out yesterday. jr picked up a nice 33" snook and a nice mangrove in the bimini canal system under large boats/docks. i picked up 2 nice gag grouper over at the big pine key area.
hugh threadfins under the sanibel spans. tarpon running the boca grande bar. trout and reds unusually absent.

jr ventured back out 4/30 (last day) picked up 2 nice snook, 1) 29" the other 27"
the freezer is now stocked with snook, should be enough to last till next season if we don't get too crazy
will be going back for more grouper (gag) soon.

Big Pine Key area again.

everything is going off! mackeral, bruiser reds, oversized snook, keeper grouper, cobia, nice mangrove snapper, jacks, tarpon (knapps point), even gator trout.
monster size threads under the sanibel spans (careful though, sea lice in concentrations)

Last weekend we went and looked at the new seawall they have built at the boat ramp by the midpoint bridge. Looks like it might be an "ok" spot for those of us that have to fish without a boat.. have you heard anything from there? Looks to drop off pretty quickly, and I can't SEE a lot of rocks and stuff to get hung up on... I was thinking of trying to get 6-8 "forum people" interested in doing a deep sea charter... think there might be enough interest in that? It's kind of "cashy" , but so much fun! Dont' know what the rates are now, especially with such expensive gasoline, but used to be over $100 each if you get 8 people.

Capt'n what can we do to help these poor landlocked people?
we have many unfortunate souls in our midst, i'll throw in for fuel on your rig, for anything off shore. i can only take on 2 extras on da flats boat.

me jr and bro paul went out sun. threads getting harder to find, a few white bait showing where the threads usually are. hit several spots, picked up 4 snook, snapper, jewfish, and a 4' blackfin shark. quite an experience for my bro paul who lives in the ozarks of north arkansas!

big cobia following rays in PI sound, bruiser reds in the mouths of the creeks and under the mangrove swales on the west side of PI. some early morning trout hitting top water plugs in the same area. juvy jewfish in shell creek, along with a few black tips. grouper still holding in the pot holes. snapper in the mangroves. snook still in the regular places.
fishin is good, if you can dodge the storms.

snook on Sanibel beaches, snapper around structure and mangroves, PI sound has a lot of weed lines making artificial baits difficult. a few trout and pomp's in the regular places.

main problem is the heat! most fishing turns off about 9:00 am
